IRATA
It all depends on the level of your certificate, the time elapsed since its expiration, and the level you want to advance to. All information is described in the linked IRATA document:
TC032ENG PROCEDURES FOR IRATA CERTIFICATION
IRATA absolutely requires a Logbook from all its Technicians who currently hold or have previously obtained an IRATA certificate. Without a logbook, we cannot start training with you due to these requirements. There is no way around this issue. Therefore, please bring your completed logbooks with you on the first day of training.
If you have lost your logbook, order it well in advance from IRATA. The entire ordering process can take up to 2 weeks.
Below is the link to the form directly from the IRATA website: https://irata.org/page/replacement-docs
For L1 technicians undergoing L1 recertification, the absence of a logbook during training is allowed, provided that the logbook has been ordered on the IRATA website and proof of the logbook order is presented.
From May 30, 2025, all Technicians taking IRATA exams – including new candidates registering for Level 1 – must be registered in the IRATA TechConnect system before taking the exam.
Please register before the first day of training in the IRATA TechConnect system:
https://techconnect.irata.org/register
https://irata.org/page/technicians-faqs
During the training, Instructors will assist you with this process. Remember to bring a form of identification (passport or ID card. Passport preferred).
After passing the IRATA exam, the documents must be verified and approved by the IRATA office. The waiting time for the physical certificate is about 1 – 1.5 months. The fastest way to see your certificate is on your IRATA Tech Connect profile after logging in https://techconnect.irata.org/login
You can start the training 6 months before the expiration date. Then the validity date of the new certificate (3 years) will be counted from the expiration date of the old certificate.
3 years, regardless of the level.
GWO
Certificates are entered into the WINDA system on an ongoing basis. Up to a maximum of 7 working days. If you need your certificate to be entered urgently, just notify the Instructor during the training.
